SARA is an alternative metal band founded in 1995 in Kaskinen, Finland. Drawing inspiration from influential metal acts such as Tool, Deftones, and Nine Inch Nails, alongside alternative rock artists including Mew and Kent, the band has developed a distinctive sound built around atmosphere, intensity, and emotional depth.

After winning the “Ääni ja vimma” competition in 1999, SARA released their debut album Narupatsaat, marking the beginning of a career defined by constant evolution and a commitment to pushing their creative boundaries. Known for their unique sonic identity and frontman Joa Korhonen’s distinctive vocals, the band quickly gained recognition, including an Emma Award nomination for the song “Rauhan aika.”

Over the years, SARA have released several acclaimed albums, including Kromi, He kutsuivat luokseen, SUMMA, and Pimeys, the latter featuring the hard-hitting single “Se osa joka rikkoo.” Each release has highlighted the band's ability to evolve while preserving the atmospheric and emotionally charged elements that have become central to their sound.

Their 10th studio album, Hallava, was released on January 17th, 2025, earning an Emma Award nomination in the Metal Album of the Year category. The album was also selected as Critics’ Album of the Year 2025 by Finnish music magazines Soundi and Inferno, further reinforcing SARA’s enduring impact on Finland’s alternative metal scene.
