Sara is an alternative rock/metal band founded in 1995 in Kaskinen, Finland. Influenced by metal bands such as Tool, Deftones and Nine Inch Nails, along with lesser known alternative rock bands such as Mew and Kent. After winning the "Ääni ja vimma" competition in 1999, Sara released their debut album Narupatsaat. Known for their unique sound and vocalist Joa Korhonen’s distinctive, soft and ethereal Finnish pronunciation, the band gained recognition with songs like the Emma-nominated "Rauhan aika". Over the years, they have released multiple albums, including Kromi, He kutsuivat luokseen, SUMMA and Pimeys, which included the hard hitting single "Se osa joka rikkoo". Their 10th album "Hallava" was released on January 17th, 2025 and was nominated for an Emma Award in Metal of the Year category. Also selected as Critics Album of the Year 2025 by Soundi and Inferno magazines.
